assignment 2 upload


after finishing my assignment i try to upload my animation , however due to some problem i cant upload , i try using different format and encoding however it does not work , in the end i try to upload each shot separately .











i try to use different angle and camera to show the key frame and highlight of the animation.  for example when the box topple i use a different camera to capture it .  another camera to capture the crushing of the box. while using camera , i need to adjust the timing or reduce the timing. in total i use 5 camera. 

i think some of the video/shot that couldn't not upload is because it is too big for the server. however i have save the shot into my CD-ROM in the assignment folder



assignment 2 - part three

Self-Critique
after finishing my animation , i would give myself around  70- 80 percent , i know that compare to my works , there are other people who are better than me , their animation is flawless .
after finishing my works , i felt that there are many parts of the animation that is not smooth , like pulling up the box, breathing , the dropping of the box. maybe due to timing or the frames. but i try to give my animation as much emotion as possible , like sadness , tired , disappointment and finally anger. i wan the audience to see from super tired drop to disappointment then suddenly change to anger . i try to use emotion like the crane bend down to show tired , the head bend down to show disappointment ,the speed of the crane decrease to show it is tired and restless.   


Compare to my previous work like the bouncing ball or the three type of ball , i felt that this is the best , as the amount of time and effort i put in is quite huge , i try my best to adjust the timing and create the special effort.
like when the robot breath in , the face turn red, when the robot breath out , it cool down, to show he is in the brink of explosion ,
when he spin and twist the speed increase , showing it going crazy.
or when the robot turn red and face the other boxes , the other boxes , was scared by the robot and run away. to add humor in the end.


from week11-14 i did poorly for my animation , after countless attempt and redoing , i manage to be back on track and able to do a decent animation.

As he  lift the box , he turn and face the platform , using all his strength 


However the box topple and everything is in a mess

stunned and shocked
cant believe that all his hard work go down the drain


after a while , he shake his head and sigh , 


and try to re-do his work ,picking up the boxes and stacking them 



however the boxes topple again.


and again 

  he stare at the boxes , looking sad and disappointed 


suddenly he twist and turn around , acting like mad





he pick up a box and throw it away.
then he find another box and crush it



 till it flatten 

assignment 2 - part one

Story


my robot name is call , Mr. sing-mood swing . it is  like a very typical Singaporean made in Singapore. Always complain and compare it workload with other people. it always felt that his work will never end and one day he will die due to overwork.
but like most Singaporean . no matter how much injustic they felt during work , they could only complain and grumble and keep it inside them and shout "suai " after that continue doing their work, no action is being done.
Mr.sing-mood swing is also the same . it could only do his work quietly and pray that his workload could just suddenly disappear. he often sigh and felt tired.
however like most human , robots also have emotion , if you push them too hard they will bounce back to you. Mr.sing-mood swing, after years of injustic kept inside him, suddenly burst into rage mode, throwing a temper around destroy things beside him.
like most Singaporean would said "you are fired " and slam the boss office door and start whacking the boss !

he then turn around and wait for the next box to come, while waiting he bend down(slogging)



After bending down . the head look down , looking a bit tired 

After that he look up and try to sigh . think about his life 


 

 he then shake his head knowing it is impossible and accept his fate and sigh 











week 12 - three bouncing ball

after doing the bouncing ball , i try doing three bouncing ball. one metal ball, one normal ball and a balloon.   i felt that the metal ball will have the fastest drop and when it bounce back it will tend to be a bit longer then fast again.
the balloon will be the slowest and it after the balloon bounce it will tend to float in the air longer than it drop .

however i felt that this is a incomplete work. i didn't really make the three ball look real , there is some uneven    
timing   and the flow does not look nice.
i hope during the holiday i could spent more time doing the bouncing ball


however i dunno why i couldn't play-blast it , it keep on being reject . i hope there is another medium to upload the video

week 11 - bouncing ball

it been a long time since i update my blog, compare to modeling , i find animation is harder , i found out that no matter how many effort i put in , i couldn't find out why my bouncing ball look so "fake". maybe due to timing, the curve . as a result this bouncing ball look weird . due to the lack of time and rushing for assignment 2   . i dint have time to enhance my bouncing ball.

but i promise myself during the holiday i will try again and practice the bouncing ball again.

to me bouncing ball is a simple animation and the most basic object. but if u cant even do a god bouncing ball you will face lots of problems when you do more complex object. bouncing ball require a lot of physic and math calculation . it require a lot of great timing . to me every object that you animation also require lot of physic and math calcualtion , otherwise it does not look "real".

i found this in the website while searching for texture tutorial. this is a texture library found on the net, compare to another few that i found , i find that this is much better as other texture library contain virus or scam .  i hope that this library is useful in the near future when i need  extra texture

after compare and contrast a few website on maya tutorial  on toon shading , i found that this website is quite good and it look professional , however when i was doing half way i found out that some of the item is not found in my maya program. after checking it with my tutor, i found out that texture DL_3d toonshaded is not included in my maya, i think it is a plug in tool.it is needed to download then can be used.

random stuff( toon shading)



this is what i found on the web, i was curious about toon shading and decided to look for info about it. 
i try to follow the instruction of the website. firstly i needed to make it like a chrome ball, example.make diffuse , specular colour and reflectivity to zero, and allow ambient colour to full. it is similar to the chrome ball exercise , 
after than i added a texture colour call ramp, then i delete the middle part to allow two colour to be there, blue and black.
then i added another texture into it , adding a ramp texture and added shaded colour of blue into it.
after than i use hypershade and pers view and added two new item , sample info and surface luminance into it and select everything and open it on the workspace

after than i link (node) the surface info the the outline ramp and in the option info i select facing ratio, ucoord and vcoord then for surface luminance i link it( node) to the surface ramp and in the option info i added outvalue, ucoord and vcoord into it

after that my end product of the toon shading look like this ,
, after doing this and talking to my tutor , i found out that this is not the real" toon shading" it is because it is using ramp as a texture. but overall , this is a new experience and a good practise to train my maya skill on node. and further allow me to know more of the function on maya

random stuff( Facing Ratio shader node in Maya)

this is something i found on the net that is related to the chrome exercise and node.it has something interesting point that i like , for example in the first section , it talk about ratio of the light and how effective light is being bound back at the camera

i felt that this is important as when i do my double cheese burger, one of the main problem i encounter is that the amount of light effective bounce off my burger. even consult my tutor, and try my tutor method by adding a point light. the result is not quite what i want. i want my double cheese burger at some point maybe at the top of the upper bun to have more reflect light than the bottom of the upper bun. something like a chrome ball, the shading of colour , but this time a shading in light.

another thing that i like is the toon shading , compare to x-ray and velvet, I find that toon shading is more comfortable and i think it will be much easier for me as a beginner  to start off with. it is similar to chrome ball and it is like an extension to it, i hope i have some time and try to do the toon shading when i free

week5_02_part2_Chrome ball

this is my chrome ball, overall this is something new and special. i like when the light reflect on the chrome ball and changing different function to get different outcome. however one point i notice is that , there is very limited object in the real world that is made out of chrome , i wonder if that chrome texture is use for special effect or just for the texturing

week5_02_part1_Dice


this is the two dice i created, the upper part is i created by adding picture into the template then apply the object. for the lower part i use paint to draw the emotion .

overall , this exercise is quite fun and simple , it is quite easy and the node is easy to understand. however when i try to do complex shape like cylinder or bevel cube it is hard as the shape is not even . it require more skill, also i try to play with the different function, like transparent, diffuse and many more.
